Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Echothiophate (Echo) has announced a world wide shortage of the product.

If you are using the Echo treatment, we advise that you contact Wyeth and lodge a protest since we believe this announcement is a forerunner to discontinuation of the product altogether. Sources inside Wyeth advise us that the cost of manufacturing this drug is more than the estimated sales to glaucoma patients. As it is only used to treat Stargardt's patients as an "off label" application, they have no interest in continuing manufacture to treat this condition.
